Interestingly, I always thought that I should be a good typist, having played classical piano for many years.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"\/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"\/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/pi-Mnh60UiU&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\"\/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\"\/><embed width=\"425\" height=\"344\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/pi-Mnh60UiU&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\"\/><\/object><\/p>\n<p><strong>My Quest?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To learn to type the right way and achieve 60 words per minute. Actually, the bigger goal is to beat Daniel in a race &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/app.typrx.com\/#\">http:\/\/app.typrx.com\/#<\/a>. This won&#8217;t be easy to achieve before the end of August but it should be fun to try.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Tools:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To achieve these lofty goals, I will be using the Ultimate daskeyboard (self described as &#8220;Bad ass&#8221;) and a Mavis Beacon typing DVD.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Baseline:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>S<\/strong>ince I never learned to type, I am starting at the bottom &#8211; reflected in my first score on the typing&nbsp;race. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daskeyboard.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/typing-July-20102.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-939\" title=\"typing July 2010\" src=\"http:\/\/www.daskeyboard.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/typing-July-20102-300x233.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.daskeyboard.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/typing-July-20102-300x233.png 300w, https:\/\/www.daskeyboard.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/typing-July-20102.png 538w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I completed the race with my fingers in the proper typing position.I also used the daskeyboard (blank keys).<\/p>\n<p>I did score 23 wpm with my laptop banging away without proper finger positions.<\/p>\n<p>My odyssey is just&nbsp;beginning&nbsp;and I look forward to sharing my lows as well as my triumphs for your reading pleasure.<\/p>\n<p>See you soon<\/p>\n<p>Dre<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, I Just started with Metadot (daskeyboard) and wanted to share my continuing saga using the Das Keyboard. &nbsp;To be blunt, my typing skills are dismal &#8211; I thought that I could type with a little speed, but in reality the mistakes that I make slow me down&nbsp;considerably.
