Crypto Fear is a new Das Keyboard Q applet that turns one of your keys into a live indicator for the daily Bitcoin market sentiment.
The sentiment ranges from Extreme Fear to Extreme Greed, with daily updates at 00:00 GMT. The applet refreshes every 5 minutes to ensure your keyboard always shows the latest reading.
Your keyboard, now tuned in to the market mood.

Hi, I’m Aksel. I’m an intern at Metadot, and over the past few weeks I’ve been developing a series of applets for the Das Keyboard Q Series.
Last week, I released Air Quality Monitor – USA.
This week, I’m happy to release the second of a series of four applets: Crypto Fear.
It’s designed to give you a clear, unobtrusive daily signal of market sentiment right on your keyboard, without opening charts or dashboards.

Why This Applet Matters
The Fear & Greed Index is widely followed as a snapshot of cryptocurrency market sentiment.
- Extreme Fear can indicate nervous sentiment.
- Extreme Greed can signal high confidence.
This applet gives you a quick, non-intrusive view of where sentiment stands each day, without disrupting your workflow.
How It Works
The applet lights up one key on your Das Keyboard Q to display the current sentiment level:
- Red: Extreme Fear
- Orange: Fear
- Yellow: Neutral
- Green: Greed
- Bright Green: Extreme Greed

The sentiment data comes from the Alternative.me Fear & Greed Index API, which updates daily at 00:00 GMT. The applet checks every 5 minutes to make sure your keyboard always shows the latest reading.
A Subtle Signal That Speaks Volumes
Instead of opening a chart or checking a site, a quick glance at your keyboard shows the day’s sentiment.
No notifications. No extra windows. Just a quiet, visual cue.
Setup is Simple
- Compatible with all Das Keyboard Q Series models
- Open the Q software
- Browse the applet directory
- Drag Crypto Fear to any key
